[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading source=”post_title” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Walter William Schenefeld was born March 27, 1915 at the farm home of his parents, Jacob and Lizzie (Wentz) Schenefeld, near Paxton, South Dakota. He attended rural school near his home and was baptized and confirmed in the South Dallas Lutheran Church.
As a young man, Walt farmed with his parents and entered military service at the beginning of World War II. He served approximately three years on active duty in Africa and Italy.
After his discharge, he returned to Gregory where he was employed by Wilson Truck Line and later worked at the Gamble Store. On June 12th, 1950 Walter was united in marriage to Olive Jean Klinger. In 1958 Walt and his family returned to farming in Tripp and Gregory counties, southwest of Dallas South Dakota.
Walt was happy when he was caring for his cattle and doing the farming. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory and the VFW Post in Burke, South Dakota. Walt liked to hunt, and be with his grandchildren, especially when Chris was roping in a rodeo. He also enjoyed stock car racing, and watched Mark race when his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry; two brothers: Albert and Alvin; a sister, Open Schenefeld: and one grandchild.
Walt is survived by his wife, Jean; one son, Dennis, and his wife Peg, of Dallas: and three daughters: Cheryl and husband, Jim Hamilton, of Casper, WY; Barbara and husband Mark Fiebelkorn, of Gregory; and Julie and husband, Bob Hyde of Winner; and by eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Jake, or Port Angeles WA; two sisters: Marie Besmer of Josephine Sunset Home, Stanwood, WA; Ida Bahm of Colome, SD; and by two nephews and other relatives.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
